Custom plastic die cutting is generally faster and more cost-effective than other cutting processes. The trade-offs are the dimensional tolerances and edge finish of the part. A nominal tolerance for plastic die cutting is +/- .020 inch, and does not always produce a smooth edge. Routing tolerances can be significantly tighter, routinely achieving +/- .005 inch.
Plastic material being die cut is usually 1/8-inch thick or less.
